GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It’s a data privacy and protection regulation slated to officially begin on May 25, 2018.

What is GDPR

In Europe, there hasn’t been a whole lot of regulation around data protection since the pre-internet days, when GDPR’s predecessor, the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive was created and enforced.

GDPR is designed to provide better protection of personal data—or personally identifiable information (PII) —to people living in the EU.

Here are some of the major effects GDPR will have:
More rights to EU Individuals
EU residents will now have the power to request a copy of any of their stored personal data. They can also request to be “forgotten” by entities that hold their data.

Compliance Obligations and Increased Enforcement
GDPR is essentially requiring any company that currently collects personal data to implement required policies and security protocols, asking for consent in all instances where the collection of personal data may occur. These regulations are being strictly enforced, with fines up to the greater of €20 Million or 4% of the company’s yearly revenue. That’s quite the chunk of change.

Notifications for Data Breaches
If companies do experience data breaches, they are now required to report them to data protection authorities.

GDPR Checklist

1. Learn more and communicate with your team
Reading this article was an excellent first step. Now make sure decision makers in your organization know about GDPR so they can act to protect your company. It’s also important to make sure your staff knows about the regulation.

2. Analyze your company’s current use of data
Ask yourself some key questions which will uncover whether or not you have anything to worry about when it comes to GDPR’s implementation:

Do you collect data?
If so, why?
How do you use it?
Is it secure?
Do you share it with anyone?

3. Request consent
Make sure that whenever your website is asking for personal data, it’s also clearly asking for consent. This is absolutely crucial to the new GDPR regulations.

Does consent mean that you have to make users check a box for consent every time they fill out one of the forms on your website? Potentially, but not in ever case.

According to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), "Consent is appropriate if you can offer people real choice and control over how you use their data." If you can't necessarily offer a choice, then a user's explicit consent, beyond their implied willingness to fill out of a clearly labeled form, is not really necessary.

What does that mean for your website?

If you're collecting data without being clear on how that data will be used, you will need to immediately rectify the situation by allowing users to opt in and choose how their data will be used.

If you're collecting data through forms that tell users how it will be used, and allowing users the option to unsubscribe, you will be in much better shape when GDPR rules officially take effect.

4. Learn about the rights of the people whose data you’re collecting
GDPR will give people whose data has been collected new rights. That includes the right to request to be “forgotten” and the right to request a copy of their personal data being held.

5. Plan ahead for data breaches (even though they'll never happen to you, right?)
GDPR gives companies 72 hours to report data breaches to the necessary authorities. Be sure you have a plan for doing this in the unfortunate case of a breach.

6. Learn if you’re a “Data Controller” or a “Data Processor”
GDPR enforces different regulations depending on whether an entity can be classified as a “controller” or a “processor.”

A “controller” is any entity that decides what type of information gets collected, how it gets collected and how it’s used.

A “processor” is the entity that processes data on behalf of the controller.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Website traffic is a huge problem for many businesses. They have the great product or service, but they just can’t seem to get the traffic to flow to their website. To solve this problem, I decided to ask 21 marketers for their best tip on driving traffic to a website in 2016. Their answers might not be what you expect…
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

Tip #1: Guest Publishing

Tommy O’Shaughnessy, an inbound marketing strategist at Gorilla 76, thinks that guest publishing is one of the most underrated techniques for website traffic generation:

When I say guest publishing, I’m referring to writing for high quality industry publications in your niche. It’s a step above guest blogging, because you’re actually reaching your target audience with this type of content, instead of using a shot gun approach (which is what guest blogging usually devolves into).

By placing a strategic link to some high quality content on your site, you’ll get the SEO benefit (link juice) from the authoritative publication, as well as any referral traffic that comes knocking. You’re tapping into an audience that already exists on another platform, and driving them to your website with good content.

Tip #2: Video Marketing

Kent Lewis, the President & Founder of Anvil, believes that video marketing will be their biggest source of traffic in 2016:

Our goal at Anvil is to secure at least 1 top tier client via our video marketing efforts. Late last year, we invested in an interview with Kathy Ireland on her show Worldwide Business with kathy ireland.

We plan to leverage strategies and tactics outlined [in this article] to get the video in front of target brands worldwide (including adding a promotional link from our home page and driving traffic via paid search ads).

Tip #3: Influencer Marketing

Tanner Rankin, the CEO of Source Approach Inc., thinks that influencer marketing will be of vital importance for traffic and business growth in 2016:

In 2016, a focus on influencer marketing will be extremely important for product and service based businesses as a key traffic driving tool that will drive not only traffic, but traffic farther along the sales funnel that should be closer to converting. Identifying key influencers in your niche through tools like Moz’s Followerwonk or BuzzSumo is a great place to start.

They will have valuable credibility and sway over your leads and traffic coming from them will be more valuable. Your next step is outreach to said influencers, making an arrangement where they will promote your product or service through their channels.

This could be free product, percent of sales, recurring monthly payment, anything. Influencers with mass followings are pro’s at this and usually have media packages that tell you what they expect. These campaigns are cost effective, have high conversion rates, and are very measurable.

Tip #4: Combining Your Online Marketing Efforts

Meredith Davis, the Founder and Chief Strategist for Excelerate Online, says that marketers should combine their internet marketing strategies to form the “bigger picture”:

Driving traffic in 2016 is becoming more about building a strategy that uses a combination of your online marketing efforts versus creating a separate strategy for each tactic. For example, try combining the use of content marketing, social media marketing and email marketing to build a consistent flow of traffic that will keep coming back.

My favorite digital marketing strategy right now involves the use of 1) valuable blog posts, 2) Facebook advertising that drives traffic to those blog posts, 3) capturing emails on those blog posts or lead pages, and 4) creating an automated email series that goes out to your new email subscribers periodically with links driving traffic back to your website.

Additionally, you can use all the traffic from your Facebook ads to re-target more specific call-to-actions, promotions and lead generators. The key for this strategy is to provide valuable content the user can use, for free, and in return, this will boost your credibility, boost your traffic and optimize your web presence.

Tip #5: Understand Your Customers’ Moments

Matt Roberts, Founder and Chief Strategy officer at Linkdex, said that you first need to (really) know your target niche and the people in it in order to write “traffic-enticing” content:

It’s critical to understand the moments your customers go through and the content they want to read. You can then build a content strategy around them. For example, for complex financial services like life insurance, most search volume is around information seeking moments.

This means having the best and most informative content that explains what life insurance is and that has definitions, jargon and options explained is essential. As consumers move through to other moments, the same process works. Understanding and planning for moments ensures your content is there, visible and performant.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Search for connections and request an introduction. LinkedIn’s connection hierarchy helps keep the platform exclusive and professional. Find a common connection between you and the profile you want to connect with, and request an introduction.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Join groups and participate in discussions. There are various groups you can join in on LinkedIn, and getting engaged in a group is one of the easiest ways to connect with people without the need for a shared connection. Make sure to be helpful and authentic and always engage on topics that you’re genuinely interested in.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Check out who’s viewed your profile. Make it a habit to check who’s viewed your profile on LinkedIn. You can take it one step further and message anyone who’s taken a peek at your profile to see if you can help them with anything. This is a great way to start a conversation and create a new connection.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Play fair when building your lead list. Always ask to be introduced to people who do not know you. Adding people left and right without actually knowing them, or worse, when you have no shared connections at all, will make you seem untrustworthy.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Stay active and relevant. Staying active on LinkedIn doesn’t just mean adding people every day. Nurture potential leads by publishing relevant, timely, and informative content. This will remind people why they connected with you in the first place. Use your editorial calendar to help ensure that your LinkedIn campaign is at the top of its game.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">How on earth do they do it? How do your favorite brands, bloggers, and personalities get more followers that seem to be raging, shout-it-from-the-rooftops fans?

It feels like social media followers just flock to these people, naturally, with no effort from them whatsoever. And all the while, you’re here, working your backside off, just to pick up a follow or a like or a mention from someone.

It’s frustrating, isn’t it?

But today, that frustration is going to melt away. You’re about to learn how to get more followers on your social networks in a very scientific way. And you’re going to unlock those “industry secrets” that are going to skyrocket you to more people, better conversions, and better customer experiences.

Here we go…

1. Post After Lunch To Reach More People

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

Research from Chartbeat shows 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. is the optimal time to share on social media, with social traffic being at its highest in the late afternoon:

While there is still mileage in posting through the morning (more on that next), schedule the updates you want to convert most with, like blog posts, in this time window.

2. Find The Best Times For You To Share To Social Media

It’s a generality to say that posting in the afternoon is the best way to grow your audience. But there are better times to post on social media than others.

To find out when your own audience is active on social networks, grab this Google Analytics custom report we custom-built for you with love from CoSchedule. :)

It’ll tell you when your current audience is clicking through to read your content. That will help you understand what your most popular social networks are so you can use your time more effectively. You’ll be able to share your content even smarter.

So let’s use your own data to strategically choose the best times to share. First, choose the blog you’d like to apply the report to:
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

That report doesn’t look like much at first, but right off the bat you’ll see which networks are your most popular ones:

When you click through to see the data for each network, you’ll see the best days to post on that network. Take it one step further and click through on those days, you’ll see the best times to post on that network, too.

That Google Analytics custom report will work with your own data that comes directly from your audience. Use it to schedule your social messages at the best times to increase your traffic and opportunity to get more re-shares that could help you get more followers.

3. Share More Often To Get More Followers

The folks over at Beevolve recently posed the question: If you tweet more, will you get more followers?
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Setting up Gmail sponsored promotions

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">What are Gmail Sponsored Promotions?

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">They’re ads that appear in users Gmail inbox’s, above their emails. Cleverly designed to look like an email, they expand to a full add (in a variety of formats) once clicked.

Here’s an example from my inbox:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">How much do Gmail Sponsored Promotions cost?

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">You are charged on a cost per click basis for GSPs, however the click is counted as any interaction with your ad, not necessarily a click to your website. For example if a user clicks the teaser ad and it expands into the larger full image ad you will be charged for that click. You only pay for the first click however, so if they then click through to your website, it doesn’t cost anything.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Where do Gmail Sponsored Promotions appear?

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Gmail Sponsored Promotions appear in both mobile and desktop devices, with mobiles allowing for one ad spot, and desktop allowing for two.

The ads appear under the promotions tab of Gmail accounts, however this shouldn’t deter you from using them as Gmail automatically sorts users mail into tabs so many genuine emails land in the promotions tab and it’s not just a tab filled with ads and junk!

Ads only appear in ‘free’ Gmail accounts, not in Gmail accounts that are custom domain business accounts on paid plans. This means the format isn’t perfect for B2B ads as you probably won’t reach businesses on their Gmail accounts, but you might reach them on their personal Gmail accounts.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Microsoft has come up with a radical new way to store data - under the sea.

Testing of the firm's first underwater data centre - dubbed Leona Philpot after a character in an Xbox game - has just been completed in an initiative called Project Natick.

Data centres are believed to consume up to 3% of the world's electricity, according to researchers.

Large technology firms are keen to find energy efficient ways to store their increasing amounts of data.

Microsoft said its reasons for experimenting with underwater data centres were twofold.

Firstly, half the world's population is located within 125 miles (200km) of the coast so data centres in the sea would reduce latency - the time its takes data to travel from its source to customers.

But there were also environmental reasons for the trial. Putting the data centre in the ocean eliminated the need for cooling and, in future, if such centres could be colocated with offshore renewable energy sources, they could also produce zero emissions, according to Microsoft.

Its first underwater data centre operated 0.6 miles (1km) from the Californian coast from August to December 2015 and is now back at Microsoft's Redmond headquarters for analysis.

It was encased in steel and equipped with sensors to monitor the environmental conditions.

Greenpeace, which produces an annual report on how clean the the big technology firms are, believes Microsoft could do more.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

"Experimental underwater data centres could be more sustainable if connected to offshore wind power, but Microsoft must focus more on investing in new renewable energy now. Microsoft is far behind Apple, Google and Facebook in sourcing renewable energy for existing data centres," said Tom Dowdall, a climate campaigner at Greenpeace.

Many tech firms are now considering new options for housing data - including moving them to countries with colder climates.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Dear Friends,

My life has been a dream journey. From a little boy growing up in the Himalayas dreaming of the Star Trek computer, to an immigrant who came to the United States with two suitcases and not much else, to the person responsible for Search at Google, every turn has enriched me and made me a better person.

As I entered the fifteenth year of working at Google, I've been asking myself the question, "what would you want to do for the next fifteen?" The answer has overwhelmingly been: give back to others. It has always been a priority for me to give back to people who are less fortunate, and make time for my family amidst competing work constraints--but on both fronts, I simply want to give and do more.

Now is a good time to make this important life change. Things are in amazing shape. Search is stronger than ever, and will only get better in the hands of an outstanding set of senior leaders who are already running the show day-to-day.

It fills me with pride to see what we have built in the last fifteen years. Search has transformed people’s lives; over a billion people rely on us. Our mission of empowering people with information and the impact it has had on this world cannot be overstated. When I started, who would have imagined that in a short period of fifteen years, we would tap a button, ask Google anything and get the answer. Today, it has become second nature to us. My dream Star Trek computer is becoming a reality, and it is far better than what I ever imagined.

I love Google. It is a company that believes in doing the right thing, a company that believes in doing good in the world, a company… that cares. I look back at my time here with a profound sense of gratitude that I was a part of building this. Now, with pride, gratitude, and joy in my heart, I need to define my next fifteen years. I am eager to see what kind of impact I can make philanthropically, and of course, to spend more time with my family--especially with my wife who I miss spending time with given our incredibly busy lives, and our son who will go to college soon, leaving an empty nest behind.

Feb 26 will be my last day at Google. My relationships are the most important thing I’ve accumulated in life and I’d love for that to continue. Please do drop me a line occasionally and we can have a cup of tea.

As Chief Si’ahl said “Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints!” I am taking so many fond memories with me, and hopefully I’ve left a small footprint here.

With Love,
Amit

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">SEO can be overwhelming for any number of reasons.
Between local considerations, seeding the right content in the right places, and various other on-page and off-page factors, it’s tough to know where to begin even when it comes to basic SEO essentials.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">What makes things even more difficult is that you can’t just start anywhere and chip away at your work. If you want to see the most success, it’s important to prioritize the SEO tasks correctly.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Although it’s not always publicized, prioritizing SEO tasks is actually one of the things we see companies’ mess up most often. If you do certain SEO tasks out of order, you’re going to spend a lot of time and use up most of your resources to finally meet your goals.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">In some worst-case scenarios you actually won’t be able to meet those goals because you started with something advanced and skipped the basics (without even knowing it!)
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Although there isn’t an exact order to follow, it does help to split up the most common SEO tasks into categories, starting with the highest priority first…

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">#1 SEO priorities

Identify and remove duplicate content.

Nothing kills a website faster than duplicate content issues. It’s confusing for Google bots so you won’t get any good visibility, and even if readers did somehow make it to your website, duplicate content is seen as spammy. Get rid of this immediately so you can start with a clean slate.

Check navigation and UX factors.

You have to make sure your website is easy to navigate and everything is cohesive. This has to do with the architecture and design. If you send people to a website that is confusing, it’s far too easy to click-away.

Make sure you have a responsive design.

In the past this may not have been such a priority, but mobile compatibility is crucial. According to Google, more searches now take place on mobile than on desktop, so you have to make sure your site looks good on the small screen. The biggest and most basic way to do this is through a responsive design.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

I’m not sure I like that title… I don’t think companies should focus on building links anymore. Our local search experts at Site Strategics like to say that new strategies require earning links rather than actively building them.

More importantly, I believe this infographic combines a ton of tools and distribution sites where you can reach multiple audiences. Distribution, promotion and repurposing content is an effective means of getting a greater return on your content investment… and this is a fantastic list of social, video, audio, podcast, syndication, aggregation, presentation, document, PDF, e-book, business listing, CSS, image, press release, infographic and web submission sites.

They’ve also added a great selection of social media, audit, keyword analysis, keyword rank, link management, backlink research, email and other search engine optimization tools.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Any marketer trying to sell something or get an article read cannot afford to ignore Pinterest. The social bookmarking platform is fast competing with Google as it becomes the number one visual search engine. But unlike Google, Pinterest users are typically not idle searchers. They come to Pinterest with a mission, more often that mission is to find things to buy and learn.

According to a report by Ahalogy, 86% of people on Pinterest everyday have used Pinterest while online shopping.

They also spend more on average than users of other social networks. A study from Comscore found Pinterest users spend twice as much as the average social media user.

In other words, understanding your highest potential keywords on Pinterest will help you reach the shopping minded, high spending, online active customers that will be most valuable to your business.

Fortunately Pinterest has several ways to support your keyword research for free right on the platform. Here is a step by step guide to how to approach your keyword research on Pinterest.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
1. Start By Exploring Topics

Pinterest has made the first step easy. The have organized all content on Pinterest into popular categories that you can easily explore. They even give you specific details about the popularity of each category and subcategory.

To the right of the Pinterest search box you'll see the list of Pinterest categories.

On every category page Pinterest lists the most common related topics as subcategories. Click through categories and subcategories to find the most popular topics associated with your category.

For example, clicking through "Technology" will show you this list of subcategories.

With each subtopic you can also see the number of followers of this topic. You can think of these topics as keyword groups. Knowing how many people are following this topic helps you determine how valuable this group will be to pursue.

You can continue to explore topics this way. Click through related topics to find out how many people are following that group and find more related sub categories.

Keep a list of topic groups and number of followers. This list will be the basis for you to begin to discover keyword phrases.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Are you stuck in a rut when it comes to stock photos? It is a complaint heard often these days. Fortunately, more and more free photo websites have been popping up, giving you many options to find the perfect image.

There is no need to spend hours searching the web yourself for these websites, as I have compiled a large list of free photo sites that have images you will actually want to use.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">As a PPC Apprentice, ad copy did not send me running for the doors, because I had somebody holding my hand and guiding me. This ensured I did not run out into an intersection and get taken out by a car. Here are some ad copy writing tips for beginners, or maybe a refresher for somebody feeling stuck.

1. Keywords!

Utilize them in the Headline, Description, and Display URL. Visually, this will cause more bolding action on your ad, which will help draw eyes to your ad. This will also help improve your quality score, because quality score is tied to keywords.

2. Do your research.

Ask yourself, “What are my competitors using? Is it working?”

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

3. Talk to your audience.

This will make them feel like the company is a person instead of an inanimate object… Logical, right?

4. Consider the audience’s feelings and read their minds!

Think about what they could be looking for. You don’t want to make them feel pressured or annoyed by what you are writing. They could just want to learn more about you.

5. Utilize punctuation?!

Just… not like that. However, it does draw the eye and can add urgency to your description.

6. Build a rapport with ad extensions.

Ad extensions, like sitelinks and callouts, are your friend when they are relevant.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

7. Know your destination (i.e., landing page).

Just like you don’t want to be duped by a present box filled with air, your audience doesn’t want to learn about something and not land on it. Therefore, make sure ad copy goes along with the landing page the ad is dropping people on.

8. Don’t lie!

You will lose credibility and your proverbial pants may kindle rapidly. If you state you are something, you’d better back it up thoroughly.

9. Fall in love with adjectives.

They are a friend you can trust while creating ad copies. Creating a good starter list of adjectives might be helpful because you can interchange them and test to see which one works best.

10. Pay attention to your display URL.

Google’s algorithm may cause it to be turned into an extended headline. This is a great opportunity to exploit!

Remember:
Capitalization of Domain Name + Adding Keyword(s) at the End = Noticeable Relevance

Hopefully, these tips will help you with your endeavors. Comment below if you can think of any other great tips, ideas or a general remark.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Here’s the scenario.

You have just written the blog post of a lifetime. The one that you know has the potential to go viral on social media. The one that you know will drive a lot of qualified traffic to your website generating leads and ultimately sales. You’ve optimized it for search, checked it twice for grammatical errors, and you’re ready to schedule it to go live.

Then you stop.

Why?

Because it’s at this point, you ask yourself the ultimate question—when. When is the best time to publish an amazing blog post? What day of the week? What time? What timezone?

Fortunately, you don’t have to guess. In this blog post, we’re going to look at four studies that analyze the best time to publish blog posts for specific results.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Study #1: The Best Time To Publish For Traffic, Comments, & Links

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">In this study from KISSmetrics, Dan Zarrella, Search Engine Land, and HubSpot, we can learn a lot about blog publishing times. Goals for your blog post should be taken into account when determining optimal publishing time.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Want the most traffic? The best publishing day is Monday and time is 11 am EST.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Want the most comments? The best publishing day is Saturday and time is 9 am EST.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Want the most inbound links? The best publishing days are Monday and Thursday, and time is 7 am EST.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Of course, there are pros and cons to publishing at the height of popular times in the day. Sure, you’ll get lots of visitors, comments, and engagement. But at the same time, you’ll get higher bounce rates and end up being buried in social newsfeeds along with all the other publishers taking advantage of popular posting times.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">How hard should it be to come up with a single content idea? Considering it’s a few words, you’d think it would only take a few seconds.

You and I both know that there’s a lot more that goes into solidifying a good content idea than the first few words that come to mind.

As content marketing becomes more popular and properly utilized, marketers will be producing more and more content. Currently, 91% of B2B marketers have started using content marketing. In addition, 77% of marketers plan to increase their content production over the next year.

A single good idea every now and again is not enough—you need several. And if you’re working efficiently (in batches), you should be coming up with at least 50 at a time, but then writing about only the best ones.

When you start a new content marketing campaign, ideas are relatively free flowing. You can write about just about anything in your niche. But once those “easy” ideas are exhausted, most marketers struggle.

They spend hours only to come up with a handful of mediocre content ideas. Not only is it a huge waste of time, but it is also mentally draining and frustrating. Most content creators struggle more with ideation than they do with the actual content creation.

I don’t want you to be one of them.

In this post, you will learn seven highly effective ways to find great content ideas—quickly.

While there can be some abstract thinking behind idea generation (which is the hardest part), you can minimize it by sticking to any combination of these tactics.

Let’s dive in… <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">There has been a lot of discussion lately about long-form content and how it is changing the content marketing playbook. By long-form, we are of course talking about blog posts that reach at least 2,000 words long. Yikes!

So, what should a content marketer do? Is long-form content really worth the extra effort? It seems that way.

SERPIQ recently completed an analysis of the top 10 search results for more than 20,000 keywords and revealed a surprising pattern. The length of content on the page had a direct correlation to the placement of the search results.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
Crap. We aren’t going to get out of the long-form content thing so easily, are we?

In addition, back in 2011, Moz found that there seemed to be a direct correlation between the number of back links (links to their blog post from other websites) and the overall length of the content itself.
